US Ambassador Sergio Gor Drives India-US Defense and Trade Ties

US Ambassador Sergio Gor led strategic meetings in New Delhi and addressed a business convention in Mumbai to expand bilateral cooperation in defense, aerospace, and energy.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor led a series of diplomatic and commercial engagements across New Delhi and Mumbai to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In New Delhi, Gor met with leaders including Cummins CEO Jennifer Rumsey and Armenian Ambassador Vahagn Afyan to discuss industrial manufacturing and diplomatic cooperation.

During these meetings, Gor collaborated with Dr. Vivek Lall of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems to expand cooperation in nuclear energy and aerospace. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Defence of India signed a contract worth approximately Rs 1,943 crore to lease two MQ-9B Sea Guardian High-Altitude Long-Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems for the Indian Navy. The 30-month lease aims to improve Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.

Following these strategic talks, Gor traveled to Mumbai to deliver a special address at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce National Convention 2026. Alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gor discussed converting strategic alignment into commercial results in sectors such as AI infrastructure, healthcare, and critical minerals. The convention brought together policymakers and executives from firms like AT&T and Wipro to focus on building resilient supply chains and generating employment in both nations.
