The Government of China will host the 2026 Global Governance Forum this Friday in Xiongan to discuss AI, climate change, and sustainable urban development.
The Government of China will host the 2026 Global Governance Forum this Friday in the Xiongan New Area of Hebei Province. The event will bring together international leaders from business, politics, media, and academia to address multilateral trade, artificial intelligence governance, climate change, and sustainable urban development.
Established in 2017 to relocate non-capital functions from Beijing, Xiongan operates as a digital and green governance laboratory. The city utilizes a three-city design that integrates surface buildings with a cyber cloud and underground utility tunnels. To support this infrastructure, the state inaugurated the China National Data Group Co., Ltd. to manage data services and connectivity.
Recent expansions include a new high-speed rail section connecting Xiongan with Shangqiu in Henan Province. The city has attracted 600 high-tech firms and over 400 state-owned enterprise branches, including the headquarters of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. and Sinochem Holdings.
