Amit Shah Visits West Bengal During Durga Puja Festivities
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Kolkata and Howrah for Durga Puja celebrations following the BJP's ascent to power in West Bengal.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is traveling from Ahmedabad to Kolkata for a two-day visit to West Bengal during the Durga Puja festivities. This trip marks the first time a Union Home Minister has visited the state for the festival since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in West Bengal.
Shah's itinerary for Sunday includes a visit to the Ramakrishna Mission headquarters at Belur Math to interact with monks. He will also visit several community pandals, including the Deshbandhu Club in Bally, Sovabazar Rajbari in North Kolkata, and Sreebhumi in Lake Town. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya are expected to receive him at the airport.
BJP sources have characterized the visit as non-political, stating it contains no administrative programs. Shah is scheduled to depart for New Delhi on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.
