Christian Menefee won election to a full term as the U.S. representative for Texas' 18th Congressional District in the November 3 midterm election, defeating Republican Ronald Dwayne Whitfield.
Menefee first entered Congress in February 2026 after winning a January special election runoff to succeed the late Representative Sylvester Turner. To secure the Democratic nomination for the full term, the former Harris County attorney defeated Congressman Al Green in a primary following the 2025 redrawing of the district by Texas Republicans.
Menefee campaigned on a platform focused on protecting abortion rights, criminal justice reform, ending gun violence, and implementing Medicare for All.
