Azerbaijan Facilitates Russian Wheat and Coal Transit to Armenia

The Government of Azerbaijan is facilitating the transit of Russian freight to Armenia, including a shipment of wheat and coal dispatched from Bilajari station. On August 5, 2026, a train consisting of 14 railcars of wheat departed Bilajari Station at 11:00 am local time. Subsequent shipments included eight railcars of wheat and ten railcars of coal.

These movements are part of a broader increase in transshipments through Azerbaijani territory. To date, Azerbaijan has managed the transit of over 36,000 tons of grain, 67,000 tons of timber, and thousands of tons of fertilizer, propane, aluminum, and anthracite moving from Russia to Armenia.

Beyond acting as a transit hub for Russian goods, Azerbaijan has also engaged in direct trade with Armenia. The government has exported approximately 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline to the Armenian government.
