Queensland Governor Jeannette Young Tours Regional Hospitals and Parklands
Governor Jeannette Young visited regional Queensland councils and hospitals, concluding her itinerary with the official opening of Priors Creek Parklands in Atherton.
On July 10, 2026, Jeannette Young, the Governor of Queensland, conducted a series of official visits across regional Queensland. Accompanied by Professor Graeme Nimmo, the Governor traveled to the Cairns Regional Council, Mareeba Shire Council, and Tablelands Regional Council to engage with local leadership and community services.
As part of her itinerary, the Governor toured hospitals in Mareeba, Atherton, and Herberton to meet with medical staff and patients. In Atherton, she held a briefing and working lunch with local officials to discuss regional priorities. The tour concluded with the official opening of the Priors Creek Parklands, where the Governor unveiled a commemorative plaque and performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
