Strategy Inc. Sells Bitcoin and Stock to Raise $395 Million
Strategy Inc. sold 1,638 bitcoin and 3.01 million shares to increase USD reserves to $4 billion and fund preferred stock repurchases.
Strategy Inc. shifted its capital management strategy by selling 1,638 bitcoin for approximately $105 million and issuing 3.01 million common shares to raise $290.6 million. These actions reduced the company's total holdings to 842,138 BTC as of August 2, 2026.
The company allocated $250 million of the stock sale proceeds to increase its USD reserve pool to $4 billion, extending its USD duration to 2.3 years. From the bitcoin sales, Strategy used $52.4 million to fund preferred stock dividends and $52.3 million to repurchase 912,143 shares of its high-yielding preferred stock, STRC.
This activity follows a capital framework established in June that permits up to $1.25 billion in bitcoin disposals, of which the firm has now utilized $321 million. The move marks a departure from the previous narrative promoted by Michael Saylor, who had characterized the bitcoin treasury as untouchable. The company is currently managing $1.76 billion in annual dividend obligations while maintaining a 12% annual dividend rate for STRC.
