Rajnath Singh Launches Blood Drive for Injured Indian Army Personnel

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the second year of the Sindoor-Army Maha Blood Donation Yatra at the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on August 9, 2026. The campaign collected 1,000 units of blood intended to support injured Indian Army personnel, ensuring that no soldier suffers due to blood shortages.

During the event, Singh linked the donation drive to Operation Sindoor, describing the blood drive as a "dimension of compassion" while the military operation represented a "dimension of valour." He stated that Operation Sindoor focused on dismantling terrorists and their handlers in Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, asserting that the operation sent a global message about India's resolve to protect its citizens.

Singh urged Indian youth to transform blood donation into a lifelong culture to help build a compassionate society by the centenary of India's independence in 2047. He characterized the act of donating blood as the greatest possible service to the nation. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde also attended the campaign.
