Ares Management Acquires Infinity Transportation for $2.9 Billion

Ares Management is purchasing railcar-leasing company Infinity Transportation from KKR for approximately $2.9 billion to support resilient North American supply chains.

Ares Management announced on Monday that it will acquire Infinity Transportation, a railcar-leasing company, from KKR for approximately $2.9 billion. Based in Atlanta, Infinity Transportation manages a fleet of about 50,000 railcars leased to more than 350 customers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Since KKR acquired the company in 2021, Infinity Transportation increased its book value by 150%, establishing itself as one of the largest railcar lessors in the U.S. Ares plans to expand the fleet following the transaction's expected close in the first quarter of 2027.

Mike Roth, a partner at Ares Infrastructure Equity, stated that the acquisition aligns with the reshoring of manufacturing and the growing need for resilient supply chains. Macquarie Capital and Citi are serving as financial advisors to KKR and Ares, respectively.
