Apple Develops Safari Fix for iPhone Duo Outer Display
Apple is investigating software updates for Safari to prevent interface controls from cramping website content on the iPhone Duo foldable smartphone's outer display.
Apple is developing a software fix for Safari to resolve user interface issues on the 5.4-inch outer display of the iPhone Duo foldable smartphone. Current reviews indicate that Safari's right-aligned controls consume excessive screen real estate, which restricts websites to an unusually narrow content area.
Jen Simmons, writing for the WebKit blog regarding Safari 27.1, acknowledged that websites are currently unable to extend behind these controls. While developers can use the HTML viewport meta tag with viewport-fit="cover" as a temporary workaround, Apple warned that this method could obscure important content if sites are not properly optimized.
Apple is now investigating more foolproof methods to allow web designers to utilize the full width of the display. The company has invited developers to submit feedback and ideas to help create a more intuitive approach for utilizing the device's unique screen dimensions.
