Sanctuary AI Sells Physical AI Software for Industrial Robots

Sanctuary AI is expanding its business model by selling its Physical AI software independently of its Phoenix humanoid robot hardware. This hardware-agnostic strategy allows the company to deploy production-ready performance on existing commercial industrial platforms to address labor shortages and operational costs in manufacturing and logistics.

The company recently demonstrated a proof-of-concept at a global Tier 1 automotive supplier. During the trial, AI-driven robotic hands performed a complex wire-plugging task on a live conveyor belt, achieving a 99.5% success rate with a cycle time of 2.54 seconds.

CEO Daniel Friedmann stated that the shift focuses on automating dexterity-intensive tasks that traditional automation cannot handle. He noted that the company is deploying this technology on existing platforms rather than waiting for humanoid hardware to reach mass commercialization, arguing that function matters more than form when solving critical labor challenges.
