Huawei Launches Pura 90s Series with Global 5G Support

Huawei released the Pura 90s Pro and Pro Max smartphones globally, marking the company's first international 5G smartphone shipments since facing sanctions.

Huawei launched the Pura 90s Series smartphones for the global market, debuting the Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max. The release is significant as these are the first devices shipped outside China with 5G connectivity and eSIM support since the company faced sanctions.

The flagship Pura 90s Pro Max features a 6.9-inch OLED display and an industry-first 200-megapixel RYYB telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. The Pura 90s Pro offers a more compact 6.6-inch display and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. Both models utilize a 50-megapixel main camera with a variable physical aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0.

Both devices are powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 9030S processor and run EMUI 16 based on AOSP 16. Because they lack native Google Mobile Services, users must use the GBox app to access the Google Play Store. Battery capacities vary by region: Malaysian configurations include 6,000mAh batteries, while European models are reduced to 5,500mAh due to import regulations.

The series is rolling out gradually, starting with availability in Malaysia and Singapore. In Malaysia, prices start at 3,699 ringgit for the Pro and 4,899 ringgit for the Pro Max. A dedicated Middle East launch is scheduled for July 16.
