VAALCO Energy Completes Gas Well in Offshore Gabon
VAALCO Energy completed the ETBNM-3 gas-supply well in Gabon to lower field operating costs and began drilling a new pilot hole at the SEENT platform.
VAALCO Energy, Inc. completed the ETBNM-3 gas-supply well within the North Tchibala structure of its offshore Gabon drilling program. The well exceeded pre-drill reservoir estimates, yielding more than 10 meters of net reservoir pay. Although the well will not directly increase production or sales, it provides a sufficient gas supply for field operations and power, reducing the company's reliance on expensive diesel.
Chief Executive Officer George Maxwell stated that the gas well should improve field uptime and potentially add production uplift to existing wells over time. The company is now evaluating shallower pay intervals in the D-9 and D-12 zones for potential light oil and wet gas.
On July 27, the company moved its rig to the SEENT platform. Operations have commenced on the ETSEM-3PH pilot hole and a subsequent horizontal development well in the Gamba sands to test the Dentale formation and the original field Oil Water Contact.
