Raghav Chadha Accuses Punjab Government of Political Vendetta Over Voter Roll

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of political vendetta after his name was classified as shifted in the state's draft electoral rolls. Chadha, who defected from the Aam Aadmi Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party in April 2026, alleges that officials willfully violated Election Commission of India guidelines regarding protected lists for public representatives during the Special Intensive Revision.

The Aam Aadmi Party denied the allegations, stating that the state government has no role in deciding whose name is included or deleted from the electoral roll, as the process is conducted by the Election Commission of India. The party further claimed that Chadha resides in Delhi and has attempted to register his vote in Rajinder Nagar through a backdated process.

The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer's office declined to comment on the political dispute but noted that any genuine omissions can be corrected during the Claims and Objections process. Final electoral rolls are scheduled for publication in October 2026.
