Plan Bee Expands Myanmar Honey Exports to China
Thida Win is expanding honey exports from Myanmar to China's healthcare and food sectors to support rural beekeepers facing economic hardship.
CEO Thida Win is expanding honey exports from the Myanmar social enterprise Plan Bee into China's healthcare and food sectors. Based in Shan State, the organization supports vulnerable groups through specialized beekeeping training and currently manages more than 3,000 beehives to sustain rural livelihoods amid national conflict and economic instability.
To increase production yields and competitiveness, Win launched a queen-bee insemination project. She plans to exhibit Shan State-sourced honey and beeswax candles at the China International Import Expo in November to secure distributors and enter the high-end consumption market in Shanghai.
Win has previously attended the expo in 2023 and 2025, viewing the event as a critical platform for establishing trade channels. She noted that while China already possesses nearly every type of flower, which makes competition fierce, it also creates opportunities for unique offerings. Win stated that capturing a 10 to 15 percent market share would be a good outcome for the enterprise.
