gFiber Unveils AI-Native Wi-Fi 8 Gateway for 20 Gig Broadband
gFiber collaborated with Qualcomm and Gemtek to launch a Wi-Fi 8 gateway that processes agentic AI at the edge for 20 gig broadband customers.
gFiber collaborated with Qualcomm Technologies and Gemtek Technology to develop an AI-native, Wi-Fi 8 symmetrical 20 gig broadband gateway. Demonstrated at Network X 2026 in Vienna, the device functions as a high-compute internet hub that processes agentic AI directly at the edge to reduce cloud reliance and maintain local data privacy.
The gateway is built on the Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite Platform, utilizing a penta-core CPU and a Qualcomm Hexagon Neural Processing Unit. These specifications enable advanced features such as real-time network diagnostics, voice-initiated guest access with QR code generation, and intent-based parental controls managed through natural-language voice commands.
gFiber will initially deploy the device to existing 20 gig customers. Following a successful live-network 50G PON trial in Kansas City, the company plans to launch a residential 50G trial using the gateway by spring 2027.
