China Suspends Robotaxi Permits After Mass Baidu Fleet Failure

The Government of China suspended all new autonomous driving permits nationwide following a mass failure of Baidu Apollo Go robotaxis in Wuhan on March 31. During the event, over 100 vehicles froze on city streets, trapping passengers for up to two hours.

The suspension prevents autonomous driving companies from expanding existing fleets, initiating new tests, or entering new cities.
