Ontario Roadwork Causes 187 Highway Closures Across Three Regions
Provincial roadwork schedules for August 30 and 31 result in extensive highway closures across the Peel, Niagara, and Simcoe regions of Ontario.
Scheduled provincial roadwork across Ontario caused widespread transportation disruptions on August 30 and 31, 2026. The Ontario Provincial Police assisted with full closures of Highway 410 between Sandalwood Parkway and Valleywood Boulevard in the Peel region during both days of activity.
On August 30, 69 closures affected the Peel and Niagara regions. Peel saw 39 closures on major routes including Highway 401, 403, 410, and the Queen Elizabeth Way across Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon. In Niagara, 30 closures impacted the Queen Elizabeth Way, Highway 406, 420, and 58, with disruptions spanning Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie, and Lincoln.
Activity expanded on August 31 to include the Simcoe region. While Peel maintained 39 scheduled closures on the same major highways, Simcoe experienced 109 closures. These primarily affected Highway 400, 11, 12, 26, 89, and 93, with daily and nightly alternating lane closures reported in Barrie, Orillia, and Tay.
