OpenAI and Anthropic Launch AI Implementation Ventures for Enterprises
OpenAI and Anthropic established two multi-billion dollar implementation companies to integrate frontier AI models directly into mid-sized enterprises and automate service sector operations.
OpenAI and Anthropic launched standalone AI implementation companies in July 2026 to embed frontier models directly into mid-sized enterprises. OpenAI created the OpenAI Deployment Company, a $4 billion joint venture employing 150 forward-deployed engineers. Anthropic established Ode with Anthropic, a $1.5 billion venture focused on building custom Claude systems for businesses.
These initiatives mark a strategic shift in AI value capture, moving from model training toward the integration of AI within the services sector, which represents more than three-quarters of U.S. GDP. By placing engineers inside businesses, the laboratories aim to automate operational tasks such as scheduling, dispatch, and customer triage, while digitizing decades of analog records.
This transition is expected to reduce key-man risk and eliminate the traditional valuation discount applied to analog-heavy services businesses. The goal is to make these operations more scalable and transferable through deep technical integration.
