House Committee Accuses APA of Fostering Antisemitism
The House Education and Workforce Committee released a report accusing the American Psychological Association of fostering a climate of antisemitism within its organization.
The House Education and Workforce Committee released a report on Thursday accusing the American Psychological Association (APA) of fostering a climate of antisemitism. Led by Representative Tim Walberg, the investigation found anti-Jewish sentiment in the organization's publications, listservs, and conferences. The report specifically cited members who praised Hamas after the October 7, 2023, attacks and alleged that leadership marginalized Jewish members.
Congressional investigators further claimed that a February 2026 revision to the APA's resolution on antisemitism diluted the term's meaning and effectively greenlights antisemitism. APA President Wendi S. Williams rejected these accusations, stating the organization unequivocally condemns antisemitism in all its forms.
These findings follow a September recommendation from a Department of Education committee to suspend the APA's accrediting power for 12 months due to a pervasive culture of antisemitism. Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights has opened a federal civil rights investigation into the APA following a complaint filed by the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law.
