Buc-ee's Sues Beaver's Mini Mart Over Beaver Logo

Buc-ee's filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Beaver's Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio, claiming the store's cartoon beaver logo is confusingly similar to its own. The company alleges that the unauthorized use of its marks is likely to cause consumer confusion.

The legal action triggered a wave of community support for the small business. More than 20 local businesses across Beavercreek and Cincinnati, including Rabbit Hole Books and Cake, Hope, and Love, temporarily adopted beaver logos in solidarity. Residents also organized a GoFundMe and a "Cash Mob" scheduled for August 7 to provide financial assistance to store owner Vik Boparai.

Local officials and institutional leaders have voiced support for the mini mart. While the city of Beavercreek holds no official legal position, Mayor Don Adams expressed personal support for the store. Wendy Rodgers, president of the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce, stated that the organization is proud to support businesses that invest in the local economy.

The dispute gained national attention when comedian John Oliver criticized the chain on "Last Week Tonight." Oliver challenged the company to sue his show after introducing a squirrel logo that resembles the Buc-ee's mascot.
