Russia Strikes Kyiv as Ukraine Hits Rostov Warehouses

Russian forces launched a 28-hour strike on Kyiv while Ukrainian forces attacked warehouses in Rostov Oblast amid reports of mass Russian flight to Georgia.

The Military of Russia conducted a combined drone and missile strike series against Kyiv and the surrounding oblast on August 28 and 29, 2026. The attacks lasted over 28 hours and targeted civilian functions, including a strike on an ammunition warehouse on the western outskirts of Kyiv that killed at least 37 people.

In response, Ukrainian forces advanced in the Dobropillya direction and struck Russian online retailer warehouses in Rostov Oblast between August 27 and 28. The Presidential Office of Ukraine warned that Russia plans to mobilize 600,000 recruits across 2026 and 2027.

Internal instability in Russia has increased, with over 113,000 citizens crossing into Georgia in one week due to fears of a new mobilization. Simultaneously, the Federal Government of Russia extended a fuel export ban for direct producers.
