Tecno and POCO Launch New 5G Smartphones in India

Several smartphone manufacturers are expanding their Indian portfolios with new 5G releases scheduled for August 21. Tecno is launching the POVA 8 Pro 5G, a high-end device featuring a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. The phone includes a unique Alive Matrix rear display consisting of 177 LEDs for notifications and battery updates, a 6,500mAh battery, and a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700c sensor. Pricing for the POVA 8 Pro 5G starts at Rs. 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB model and reaches Rs. 54,999 for the 12GB/512GB variant. Tecno also announced a Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition of the device, though it is not yet available for purchase.

Simultaneously, POCO will launch the M8x 5G, marketed as the first device in India to utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. The M8x 5G is expected to cost under Rs. 20,000 and features a green textured rear panel and a triple cooling system. While official specifications include LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, reports on battery capacity vary between 6,000mAh and 7,900mAh.

Both manufacturers have partnered with Flipkart for online sales, though Tecno will also utilize offline retail channels. Additionally, industry leaks suggest Vivo may soon introduce the V80 Lite 5G, potentially a rebranded Vivo S2 featuring a 7,050mAh battery.
