International Resources Holding and ZCCM Seek New Zambian Mining Assets
International Resources Holding and ZCCM Investments Holdings are partnering to explore new mineral opportunities in Zambia following a major investment in Mopani Copper Mines.
International Resources Holding and Zambia's state-owned ZCCM Investments Holdings are jointly seeking new mining opportunities and collaborations in mineral exploration. This expansion builds on a 2024 agreement in which the Abu Dhabi-based firm acquired a 51% stake in Mopani Copper Mines, backed by a $1.1 billion pledge to revive the operation.
Mopani produced 66,369 metric tons of copper in 2025 and forecasts annual output will reach 300,000 tons by 2029. These efforts support Zambia's strategic objective to increase national copper production to 3 million tons per year by 2031.
The partnership is part of a broader strategy by International Resources Holding, a unit of the 2PointZero Group, to increase its footprint in Africa's critical minerals sector. The firm previously acquired a controlling stake in Alphamin Resources, which operates the Bisie tin mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
