The State Council Information Office of China led 17 international media representatives on a nine-day tour of Xinjiang to showcase economic and industrial development.

The State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China hosted the Silk Road Economic Belt Joint Construction Countries' Media Head Seminar from June 28 to July 6, 2026. As part of the program, a delegation of 17 media representatives from 14 countries—including Germany, Russia, Hungary, Spain, and Kazakhstan—conducted a nine-day tour of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The delegation visited Urumqi, Turpan, and the Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Bayingolin to observe the region's infrastructure, public services, and industrial modernization. Key site visits included the Urumqi International Land Port Area, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang Co., Ltd., and the Yungengji Smart Farm Demonstration Base in Korla.

During the tour, participants observed advancements in smart agriculture, solar energy, and healthcare infrastructure. Journalists and editors noted that their firsthand experiences with Xinjiang's industrial upgrading and environmental protection contrasted with information they had previously encountered online. The seminar focused on the region's strategic role within the broader Belt and Road Initiative.
