Odisha Congress Slams BJP Over Medical Exam Paper Leak

Bhakta Charan Das accused the BJP government of systemic failure following an alleged leak of the Odisha Medical PG examination.

Odisha Congress president Bhakta Charan Das criticized the Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government after images of the General Surgery second paper for the MS/MD 2023-26 batch were reportedly shared via WhatsApp groups on July 27. Das characterized the recurring examination leaks as a "malaise" affecting the BJP at both the state and central levels, arguing that the party has initiated a pattern of such failures.

This criticism coincides with broader national unrest over academic integrity, including the recent resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following protests over the NEET-UG paper leak. Das stated that the sources of these leaks must be shut off and argued that simply introducing legislation is an insufficient response to the crisis.

In response to the growing unrest, the Rajya Sabha cleared the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, on August 1. However, the legislative move was met with opposition walkouts. Critics claim the bill is a superficial attempt to defuse student protests rather than a genuine effort to provide systemic reform.
