Election Officials Process Remaining Ballots Across Multiple Counties

Election registrars in Nevada, California, and Colorado are processing thousands of outstanding mail-in and provisional ballots following the November 4 midterm elections.

Election officials in several states are tallying remaining votes and managing ballot curing processes following the November 4 midterm elections. In Nevada, Andrew McDonald, the Washoe County Registrar of Voters, reported a smooth operation with 58.2% voter turnout, though nearly 16,000 mail ballots and 2,300 provisional ballots remained outstanding as of Wednesday morning.

In Clark County, Nevada, Registrar Lorena Portillo reported that over 378,000 mail ballots were processed by Wednesday, with 4,800 still requiring curing by November 9. Portillo acknowledged that some voters faced wait times of up to three hours due to a complex two-card ballot featuring 254 candidates.

California's Solano County Registrar John Gardner estimated turnout between 50% and 55%, noting that approximately 40,000 ballots remained to be counted on Wednesday. Gardner indicated the process could extend until Monday to include provisional and out-of-county mail ballots.

In Mesa County, Colorado, Clerk and Recorder Bobbie Gross stated that staff are processing roughly 4,000 remaining ballots and 900 that require curing. Gross noted that the race for the 3rd Congressional District remains too close to call, with an automatic recount triggered if the final margin is within 0.5 percent.
