Yekeh Y. Kolubah Announces Independent Bid for 2029 Presidency
Former Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah declared his intention to run as an independent candidate for the Liberian presidency in 2029, rejecting reconciliation with President Joseph Boakai.
Former Montserrado County District 10 Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in Liberia's 2029 presidential election. During a press conference held Sunday at his residence in Monrovia, Kolubah formally challenged both President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and former President George Manneh Weah.
Kolubah explicitly rejected rumors that he sought reconciliation with President Boakai, stating that previous messages from his public relations officer were merely intended to gauge public reaction. He asserted that he would not seek out the president to make peace. Additionally, Kolubah distanced himself from George Weah, claiming the former president embarrassed him despite Kolubah's past support and financial contributions to political activities.
While Kolubah criticized Weah and former House Speaker Fonati Koffa, he indicated a willingness to support the ruling Unity Party if the opposition fails to provide a credible political alternative. For his campaign, Kolubah intends to work with an organization called the National Movement.
