Jeff Dean, a former chief scientist at Google, has launched an AI startup called Discovery Loop. The company is currently in discussions to secure $1 billion in financing at an approximate valuation of $10 billion.
Established as a public benefit corporation, Discovery Loop aims to automate machine learning, science, and engineering to accelerate discoveries by executing thousands of experiments in parallel. Dean founded the company alongside former Google experts Sanjay Ghemawat, Quoc Le, and Oriol Vinyals.
Radical Ventures and Khosla Ventures are leading the initial funding round, with additional participation from Lightspeed, Kleiner Perkins, and Doerr Capital. Alphabet Inc. is acting as both a founding investor and the startup's cloud partner.
