Alphabet Integrates Peacock into YouTube Premium to Rival Netflix
Alphabet is adding Peacock Premium to YouTube Premium subscriptions in the United States to attract users deterred by Netflix price increases.
Alphabet Inc. expanded the value proposition of YouTube Premium by integrating third-party streaming content to compete more directly with Netflix. In the United States, YouTube Premium subscribers now receive access to the ad-supported version of Peacock Premium, a service owned by Comcast.
As part of this strategic move, selected sporting events from NBCUniversal will be streamed on NBC's YouTube channel. The initiative aims to lure Netflix's core audience by bundling varied content offerings and providing a viable alternative to the recent price hikes implemented by the streaming industry leader.
