China Celebrates 77th Anniversary With Receptions in Benin and South Africa
Chinese embassies in Benin and South Africa hosted receptions to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and strengthen bilateral ties.
The Government of China marked the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with high-level diplomatic receptions in Cotonou, Benin, and Pretoria, South Africa, on September 30.
In Cotonou, the Chinese Embassy hosted an event celebrating both the national anniversary and the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China. Ambassador Zhang Wei and Franck Armel Afoukou, secretary-general of the Beninese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised the vitality of bilateral relations, with Zhang Wei describing the partnership as a fine example of China-Africa cooperation.
Simultaneously, in Pretoria, Ambassador Wu Peng emphasized the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa. Wu Peng highlighted the upcoming BRICS chairmanships for both nations over the next two years, pledging collaboration to expand opportunities for the Global South. South African Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille announced initiatives to increase Chinese tourism through improved air connectivity and eased visa access, while former President Kgalema Motlanthe called for an international order based on equality and mutual respect.
