Mines and Energy Minister R. Matenokay Tingban launched LIMEC 2026 to attract responsible international investment and modernize Liberia's resource extraction sectors.
Mines and Energy Minister R. Matenokay Tingban launched the Liberia International Mining and Energy Conference & Expo (LIMEC 2026) during a news conference on October 19. The strategic forum aims to reposition the nation's mining and energy sectors as primary drivers of economic growth and job creation by bringing together government officials, international investors, and technical experts.
Minister Tingban stated that the government seeks responsible investors committed to environmental protection, policy consistency, and the development of local professional skills. He noted that the conference should be measured by the investments it attracts and the lasting benefits it delivers to the Liberian people.
The initiative marks a shift in national strategy, moving from a simple extraction model toward a development approach. The government intends to use transparent resource governance and infrastructure development to ensure the mining and energy sectors provide greater value to citizens.
