Qatar and Iraq Establish Joint Business Council for Investment
The Qatar Chamber and Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce signed an agreement to create a joint business council and explore Iraqi infrastructure investments.
The Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Qatar-Iraq Joint Business Council. The agreement focuses on strengthening bilateral economic relations, expanding communication between companies, and developing cooperation for small and medium-sized enterprises.
During the signing process, officials reviewed approximately 60 investment opportunities tied to the $250 billion Iraqi Development Road project. These opportunities span several critical sectors, including transport, energy, oil and gas, and information and communication technology.
Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani and Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce President Amer Khalaf Alawi emphasized the role of the private sector in driving trade exchange. They identified Iraq's dynamic economy and Qatar's investor-friendly infrastructure as the primary drivers for this strategic partnership.
