AI and Crypto Boom Drives Ultra-Luxury Superyacht Sales

Ultra-luxury superyacht sales reached a three-year high in early 2026, fueled by AI wealth and a surge in discreet off-market transactions.

The market for megayachts and gigayachts is experiencing a significant boom driven by the AI surge and rising stock and cryptocurrency prices. While the broader yacht market has declined, sales of vessels over 30 meters reached a three-year high in the first half of 2026. This growth is characterized by a rise in off-market transactions, where brokers facilitate discreet sales through private networks and non-disclosure agreements to protect the identities of billionaires.

Fraser Yachts and Super Yacht Times Intelligence report that off-market transactions are on track to increase by 5% this year, with some estimates suggesting they have doubled since 2019. This trend is accompanied by rising costs, as Camper and Nicholsons reported a 33% to 38% increase in asking prices for the largest vessels. Buyers are increasingly demanding opulent custom amenities, such as glass-walled pools and beach clubs.

Industry brokers note that wealthy clients often treat these vessels as status symbols to be upgraded frequently. Despite concerns regarding a potential AI market bubble, brokers report strong underlying demand for these high-end assets, with many transactions occurring through personal relationships rather than public databases.
