Taiwan Deputy Secretary-General Urges Expanded Semiconductor Ties With India

Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council in Taiwan Vincent Yi-hsiang Chao described India as a vital "oasis of peace and stability" during an interview with ANI on March 7, 2026. He emphasized that strengthening economic and strategic ties between the two nations is a priority, noting that 350 Taiwanese companies have already invested in India.

Chao identified the semiconductor and high-tech sectors as the most critical areas for future bilateral cooperation. He attributed this potential to India's traditional advantages in human talent, software, and innovation, characterizing the semiconductor industry as a global enterprise that extends to every corner of the world.

On the geopolitical front, Chao expressed gratitude for India's diplomatic concern regarding recent military exercises conducted by the People's Republic of China near Taiwan. He further praised India's commitment to its own national sovereignty and strategic autonomy as a stabilizing force in a turbulent region.
