Skilled trade positions in Texas are experiencing a surge in demand and compensation, with at least five specific roles now offering median annual salaries of $100,000 or more without requiring a bachelor's degree.

Data from McKinsey & Company, cited by CNBC contributor Morgan Smith, indicates that wages for skilled trades have risen by more than 20 percent since 2020. This growth is most prominent in the energy and manufacturing sectors.

The trend is particularly evident among Gen Z workers. These individuals are increasingly pursuing blue-collar careers to avoid the rising costs of college tuition and the challenges associated with finding employment that validates a university degree.
