India IPO Market Hits Record $9 Billion Quarterly High

India's IPO market raised over $9 billion in the July-September quarter, marking its strongest third quarter in history despite broader equity market volatility.

The Indian IPO market recorded its strongest July-September period in history, with listing proceeds surpassing $9 billion. This surge brings total fundraising for 2026 to over $13 billion, positioning the market for a third consecutive blockbuster year. The growth was driven largely by significant offerings from the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd., SBI Funds Management Ltd., and Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd., which collectively raised more than $4.3 billion.

This resilience persists despite significant weakness in the secondary stock market. The NSE NIFTY 50 has fallen approximately 13% this year and lost nearly 5% this quarter, hitting its lowest level since early April and facing its longest losing streak since the dot-com bubble era. Analysts attribute this divergence to deep domestic liquidity and sustained institutional demand for new businesses, a trend that has subsequently triggered a hiring boom for equity analysts.

A substantial pipeline remains for the final quarter of 2026 and early 2027. This includes a proposed $3.1 billion share sale by Jio Platforms Ltd. and offerings from Avaada Electro Ltd. and Advanta Enterprises. Currently, 144 companies have received regulatory approval to launch IPOs, while another 73 await approval from the market regulator.
