Chidimma Adetshina Challenges South African Deportation in Cape Town Court

Former Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Chidimma Adetshina appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on July 21 to challenge the South African Department of Home Affairs' attempts to deport her. The legal action follows Adetshina's arrest in June on allegations that she entered South Africa illegally.

The dispute originates from a 2024 investigation into the citizenship documentation of Adetshina's mother, which included allegations of identity theft. This controversy previously led Adetshina to withdraw from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition amid social media attacks targeting her Nigerian heritage.

Adetshina and her legal team are contesting the lawfulness of the deportation process. She is expected to submit an affidavit to the court detailing her attempts to regularize her residency status in South Africa to block the removal order.
