Adani Group Begins Construction of Dharavi Rehabilitation Housing

Pranav Adani launched construction of 10 high-rise towers in Matunga to provide over 10,000 rehabilitation homes for eligible Dharavi residents.

Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, performed a Bhoomi Poojan ceremony on October 12, 2026, to begin construction of a rehabilitation housing project in Matunga, Mumbai. The project is being implemented by Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited (ANDPL), a joint venture between the Adani Group and the Government of Maharashtra.

The development will occupy a 22-acre railway site and consist of 10 towers ranging from 37 to 39 floors. These towers will provide 10,432 rehabilitation apartments of 350 square feet each for eligible residents of Dharavi, specifically prioritizing those from Sectors 1 and 6. Additionally, the project includes 1,379 commercial and industrial units.

Handover to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project/Slum Rehabilitation Authority (DRP/SRA) will occur in three phases: five towers by March 2029, two by August 2029, and the final three by August 2030. ANDPL will manage the upkeep of the buildings for 10 years after handover, using revenue from 10% of the reserved commercial spaces to fund maintenance.

This construction follows the recent inauguration of the Dharavi Experience Centre by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The broader redevelopment initiative aims to transform the area into a mixed-use township where essential services are accessible within a 15-minute walk.
