Gujarat CM and KVIC Launch Khadi Promotions for Gandhi Jayanti
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and KVIC Chairman Manoj Goyal launched Khadi sales and incentives to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led Gandhi Jayanti commemorations on October 2, 2026, marking the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Patel began the day in Porbandar, where he attended a Sarva Dharma Prayer Meeting and paid floral tributes at Kirti Mandir. He stated that India's strength is rooted in the unity of its diverse faiths and traditions.
Following the tributes, Patel visited the Khadi Gramodyog Haat in Gandhinagar to purchase Khadi garments. He used digital payment for the transaction to support the Digital India vision and the Khadi for Fashion, Khadi for Nation initiative. To further support rural weavers, the Government of Gujarat announced a 30 percent special market incentive on Khadi and polyvastra produced by recognized state institutions and cooperatives, effective through December 31.
Simultaneously, Manoj Goyal, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, launched a nationwide discount sale running from October 2 to November 16. The campaign offers up to 20 percent off Khadi products and 10 percent off village industry products. These efforts align with the Vocal for Local and Har Ghar Swadeshi campaigns to boost rural employment and sustainable development.
