Gilat Perú signed a $28 million agreement with Pronatel to upgrade broadband connectivity for public institutions and citizens in the Ica region.
Gilat Perú, a subsidiary of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., signed a $28 million agreement with Pronatel to upgrade broadband connectivity in the Ica region. The project will deliver internet speeds 20 times faster than current levels to 116 public institutions and establish free Wi-Fi access in 30 public squares.
Construction is scheduled for completion by mid-2027, after which the network will enter a seven-year operational phase. The initiative is part of a larger strategy by the Ministry of Transport and Communications to bridge the digital divide by improving access to healthcare, education, and public safety services. Ica is the fifth Peruvian region to receive a broadband upgrade since 2025.
Pronatel Executive Director Rafael Arias Velarde stated the project will strengthen connectivity for public institutions and expand free internet access for citizens. Gilat Perú President Arieh Rohrstock noted that strong connectivity is essential for enabling communities and public institutions to access digital opportunities.
