iOS 27 Beta Code Reveals Apple iPhone Ultra Multi-Battery System

Apple Inc. is developing a multi-battery system for the upcoming iPhone Ultra, according to code found in the iOS 27 beta 4 release.

Apple Inc. is developing a multi-battery system for a forthcoming device, widely identified as the iPhone Ultra, according to code discovered in the iOS 27 beta 4 release. The software includes specific Battery Health strings that reference the batteries in this iPhone and provide alerts if one of the batteries is not genuine. This marks a significant departure from the single-battery architecture used in all current iPhone models.

The discovery corroborates previous leaks from Digital Chat Station and supply chain reports suggesting a foldable design. According to a regulatory filing, the device may feature two separate batteries with capacities of 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh, resulting in a total capacity of 4,883mAh.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to be unveiled in early to mid-September. Reports suggest the device may carry a potential price point of approximately $2,500.
