Apple is developing a foldable iPhone Ultra with a dual-battery system and a 7.76-inch display, according to code discovered in the iOS 27 beta 4 release.
Code discovered in the iOS 27 beta 4 release indicates that Apple Inc. is developing a multi-battery system for a forthcoming device, widely identified as the iPhone Ultra. The software contains specific Battery Health strings referencing the batteries in this iPhone and alerting users if one of the batteries is not genuine. This marks a significant departure from the single-battery architecture used in all previous iPhone models.
These findings corroborate previous leaks from Digital Chat Station and supply chain reports suggesting a foldable design. Regulatory filings and leaks indicate the device may feature two batteries with capacities of 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh, totaling 4,883mAh. Additional rumored specifications include a 7.76-inch LTPO OLED main display, a 5.49-inch cover panel, the A20 Pro chipset, 12GB of RAM, and a side-mounted Touch ID.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to be unveiled in early to mid-September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. Reports suggest a high price point, estimated at approximately $2,500 or between Rs 1.75 lakh and Rs 2 lakh.
