American Airlines Seeks 2,000 Flight Attendants for 2027
American Airlines is recruiting 2,000 flight attendants for 2027 to support network expansion, featuring a redesigned recruitment process and a starting salary of $34,000.
American Airlines is accepting applications through October 18 to hire 2,000 flight attendants for its 2027 trainee classes. The recruitment drive supports an expanding network, including six new or returning European routes planned for summer 2027. Successful candidates will begin a seven-week unpaid training program at the Robert L. Crandall Campus in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the first half of 2027.
New hires will earn an initial annual salary of approximately $34,000, based on a guaranteed minimum of 75 flight hours per month, plus health benefits and per diems. Primary hiring bases include Miami, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Chicago, with Charlotte designated as one of the top hubs for the new staff. The airline is explicitly informing applicants that most new hires will spend two or more years on reserve, requiring availability at short notice.
The carrier has redesigned its recruitment process to include online assessments, recorded videos, and virtual interviews before final in-person evaluations. This shift aims to provide a more realistic preview of the role to improve long-term employee retention. The airline currently employs over 30,000 flight attendants as part of a total workforce of 130,000.
