Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max Leaks Reveal Camera Upgrades
Apple is reportedly developing the iPhone 18 Pro Max with a variable-aperture camera and a proprietary C2 modem to reduce reliance on Qualcomm.
Apple Inc. is developing the iPhone 18 Pro Max with several high-end hardware upgrades that may create a significant performance gap between it and the smaller Pro model. Leaked files from supplier Tata Electronics suggest the Pro Max will feature a variable-aperture main camera using a Sony IMX905 sensor, allowing users more control over depth of field and low-light photography. This would replace the fixed f/1.78 aperture used since the iPhone 14 Pro.
The Pro Max may also exclusively receive advanced telephoto capabilities, including 6x optical zoom and five-refraction prism technology, while the standard Pro model may be limited to 5x-6x zoom. Internally, the device is expected to feature a 2-nanometer A20 processor and a proprietary C2 modem designed to replace components supplied by Qualcomm Inc.
Other reports remain conflicting. While some supply chain data suggests the chassis will be thicker and heavier, other sources indicate no major design changes. Speculation on colors includes deep red, burgundy, purple, brown, and silver, with some reports suggesting black may be omitted. Additionally, there is speculation that the selfie camera could move to a corner if Face ID sensors are shifted under the display.
