Microsoft Corporation Recalls Accidental OneDrive Photos App Rollout

Microsoft Corporation accidentally deployed a new OneDrive Photos app to millions of Windows 11 PCs, an action the company admits was an error. Jeff Teper, Microsoft's EVP of Apps and Agents, explained that the web-based app was an incubation project that rolled out more broadly than intended.

Users reported that the app appeared in Start menus regardless of their OneDrive storage preferences, with critics noting high RAM usage and poor responsiveness.

Teper stated that the company is fixing the issue and clarified that Windows Photos will continue to provide users the choice between local and cloud storage.
