Lululemon Cuts Fabric Roles to Fix Quality Issues

Lululemon Athletica Inc eliminated seven fabric development roles to move quality oversight closer to international vendors following several high-profile product failures.

Lululemon Athletica Inc reorganized its fabric development team in August 2026, eliminating seven roles to shift raw material capabilities closer to its international vendor partners. The structural realignment aims to strengthen supply chain execution and prevent recurring product flaws that have damaged consumer sentiment.

The move follows a series of quality failures. The company previously suspended online sales for the Get Low collection and heart-patterned leggings after customers reported the fabric was see-through. Additionally, Lululemon halted sales of Breezethrough leggings in 2024 due to fit concerns.

To improve quality oversight, the company is currently recruiting for raw materials development positions in Taipei, Taiwan, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This operational shift occurred shortly before Heidi O’Neill assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer.
