Czech Republic Leads Business Delegation to India for Investment
Karel Havlicek led a Czech business delegation to India to foster joint ventures and align with the Make in India strategy.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlicek led a business delegation to India on October 12, 2026, to strengthen commercial ties and encourage joint ventures. Speaking at the India-Czech Republic Business Forum, Havlicek stated that Czech firms in the energy, transport, construction, and engineering sectors are eager to invest in India and collaborate on research and development.
Havlicek specifically aligned these efforts with the Make in India strategy, noting that Czech companies are arriving as both exporters and entrepreneurs ready to create joint ventures. This diplomatic and commercial push follows the conclusion of free trade agreement negotiations between India and the European Union.
Both parties expect to sign the pact by the end of the year, which will establish a free trade zone encompassing over 2 billion people. The agreement will grant 93 percent of Indian shipments duty-free access to the European Union while reducing import costs for European luxury cars and wine entering India.
