Meta Launches Applied AI Engineering Group for Superintelligence
Meta established a new applied AI engineering organization led by Maher Saba to accelerate the development of superintelligence through a flat management structure.
Meta established a new applied AI engineering organization designed to accelerate the company's development of superintelligence. Led by Maher Saba, a vice president at Reality Labs, the group reports directly to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth. The initiative involves two primary teams: one focused on data acquisition to improve model performance and another dedicated to interfaces and internal tooling.
This new organization will operate in partnership with Meta Superintelligence Labs, which is led by Alexandr Wang. To increase efficiency, the group will utilize a flat management structure featuring manager-to-employee ratios as high as 1:50. This approach aligns with a broader company-wide shift toward elevating individual contributors and reducing managerial layers.
Maher Saba noted that the effort to build great models requires more than just researchers and compute. This restructuring follows directions from company leadership to flatten teams across the organization.
