Energy Transfer Announces $1.6 Billion South Mississippi Pipeline
Energy Transfer LP plans to build a 215-mile natural-gas pipeline to supply power plants, AI data centers, and LNG terminals in the Southeast.
Energy Transfer LP announced plans to develop the South Mississippi Pipeline, a $1.6 billion natural-gas project designed to transport up to 1.2 billion cubic feet of gas per day. The 215-mile system will run from Richland Parish, Louisiana, to George County, Mississippi.
The company will hold a 51% ownership stake and operate the pipeline, while customers are expected to own the remaining 49%. The project targets growing energy demands from AI data-center facilities, power generation, and LNG export terminals across the Southeast region.
Energy Transfer has already secured binding commitments from anchor shippers and will close an open-season solicitation for additional customers on November 25, 2026. The company targets the start of commercial service for March 1, 2030, though the project remains pending authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
