Prabowo Subianto Inaugurates 26-Member Presidential Advisory Council
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated a 26-member Presidential Advisory Council in Jakarta to provide guidance on the exercise of executive power.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated his first Presidential Advisory Council on Friday, October 2, in Jakarta. The 26-member body is tasked with advising the president on the exercise of executive power and is chaired by former senior minister Pratikno.
The council includes a diverse group of figures, including billionaires Chairul Tanjung and Tahir, retired general Agum Gumelar, and former Constitutional Court chief justice Anwar Usman. It also incorporates religious leaders representing the Islamic, Christian, Buddhist, and Confucian faiths.
These appointments meet a statutory deadline requiring the council's formation within three months of the president taking office in October 2024. The size of the board was expanded under a new law that removed a previous nine-member cap, granting the president discretion over the council's membership. This move follows a series of administrative changes, including the swearing-in of a new national police chief and foreign minister on Thursday.
